Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich holds a meeting of the Government Commission on Agriculture and Fishery Development

The meeting participants reviewed the progress in implementing the Government Action Plan on Adapting Various Sectors of the Economy to comply with the conditions of Russia’s membership of the WTO in the fields of agriculture and fishery. Mr Dvorkovich instructed the ministries to ensure the implementation of all activities under the plan, and pay special attention and respond promptly to issues arising in the agriculture sector.

The meeting also discussed the implementation of the action plan to eradicate the African swine fever virus in Russia. The Deputy Prime Minister instructed the implementation of the plan to be kept under control in order to prevent the spread of the disease in Russia.

Another issue discussed was the need to provide additional support to the livestock sector this year. Mr Dvorkovich instructed the relevant agencies to avoid delays in submitting their proposals for the allocation of additional funds to support livestock producers as a result of the significant rise in fodder prices. The proposals have to be submitted to the Government in the near future, the Deputy Prime Minister instructed.
