Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich has inspected the emergency recovery operations in Khovu-Aksy in the Chedi-Khol District after the heat supply was severed on December 20, 2012 due to an accident at the local thermal power plant. Mr Dvorkovich visited various infrastructure and social facilities, studied the situation on the ground, and listened to the reports of specialists. Mr Dvorkovich also examined a construction site for a new module boiler house. The specialists then asked him about the construction of a new water pipeline to Khovu-Aksy, as the old conduit, they said, lacks the proper capacity. Mr Dvorkovich replied that the financial backing for a new conduit has to be considered at the level of the respective federal ministry. The region should promptly submit the necessary documents to the ministry, he said.

Mr Dvorkovich also visited the Kyzyl Central Heating and Power Plant. The regional authorities suggested that its capacity should be expanded. During the visit, Mr Dvorkovich chaired a meeting with the Tyva Government and heard a report on emergency recovery operations. He also showed his approval for the measures implemented in the region and asked regional officials to keep him posted on these activities. Mr Dvorkovich noted at the end of the meeting that a number of challenges facing the region are of a technical nature and could likely be resolved in a very short period of time. He stressed that there are several problems related to the conduit and to networks that prevent residences from being connected to central heating. However, the repairs are due to be completed by early March, he said. Meanwhile, the local authorities' suggestion to develop the fuel and power complex must be reviewed by the Government, Mr Dvorkovich said.

During his visit, Mr Dvorkovich also discussed transport development, air ambulances, and fighting forest fires. He underscored that proposals on these issues will be reviewed soon. Issues that lie within the scope of other deputy prime ministers will also be considered in the near future, he said.
