Conversation with President of the Swiss Confederation Ueli Maurer

Participants:

Transcript of the beginning of the meeting:

Ueli Maurer (via interpreter): Have you been having a good time? Have your meetings in Davos been successful?

Dmitry Medvedev: Everything has gone very well, but there has been too much of everything.

Ueli Maurer: We are in the same situation and are short of time for our meeting today. We planned only a little time for our meeting but nonetheless I’d like to use this opportunity to welcome you here to Davos once again. I’m very glad about our meeting today, and would like to emphasise that for me it is a great pleasure to see you again after your visit to Switzerland a couple of years ago. I’d also like to thank you for your kind present – two bear cubs. They are now hibernating but will have cubs next summer.

Dmitry Medvedev: This is great news, Mr President! What a positive piece of news to start a conversation.

I’m also very pleased to meet you again. I must say that in the last few years the relations between Russia and the Swiss Confederation have become much more advanced and diverse than they were some time ago and we are very glad about this.

I’d like to thank you for your hospitality once again. After all, Davos is a unique venue for meeting with colleagues and discussing the prospects of the global and national economies. It has everything necessary for such discussions.
