28 october 2008
Vladimir Putin's introductory remarks:
Allow me to welcome you to Moscow once again. Addressing the Second Russian-Chinese Economic Forum's opening ceremony, you analysed our bilateral economic ties in great detail. It is true, that our relations have taken on a new character in the last few years.
It's not an exaggeration to say that the border between our countries unites, rather than divides, our nations.
Our diversified relations continue to develop successfully in both politics and economics. You also mentioned our humanitarian cooperation, another important aspect.
We cordially welcome you to Russia and are convinced that your visit will serve as another powerful impetus for expanding our relations.
Wen Jiabao's introductory remarks:
First of all, I would like to thank you and the Government of Russia for your warm-hearted and cordial reception. Right now, Russia and China maintain long-term economic and financial cooperation. Bilateral political cooperation hinges on the mutual trust between our two countries.
In our relations, we adhere to such principles as mutual trust, friendship and mutual benefits.
Today, we held two important events, including a meeting with officials who are friendly toward China. We had a productive and cordial discussion. I believe that Chinese-Russian friendship rests on mutual sympathy our people have to each other.
Moreover, I have just addressed the Second Russian-Chinese Economic Forum, summing up the results of our cooperation since establishing partner relations.
