Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets answers journalists' questions

Participants:

At the meeting, the issue of children's homes was raised.

Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets said that the primary objective of children's homes should be to place children with families. She added that children's homes must work to ensure that families can be found as soon as possible for children. “This is a new challenge for our social system, and we accept it,” she said.

Ms Golodets also said that work continues under a programme to validate children's diagnoses and medical treatment in state children’s homes.

“We have set this task ourselves – to run all of the high-tech operations this year,” she said. “And we have the funding for this.”

Ms Golodets said that control will also be tightened on the movement of the children in the database.

She also noted that benefit payments will increase for individuals who care for the disabled in the near future, as well as for disabled children and for individuals disabled since childhood.
