After the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister told journalists that the Government will provide 7.4 billion roubles for the construction of the third extension of the Hermitage Museum depository. The Hermitage should use modern technology, she said. “With construction of the museum depository completed, the number of visitors will increase from 2.8 million to 6 million per year,” Ms Golodets said, adding that currently the museum cannot accommodate this number of visitors.

Earlier Ms Golodets attended the opening ceremony for the second extension of the depository of the State Hermitage Museum. “The Hermitage Museum is the main museum of this country, our treasury. However the most significant historic museums need new technology and openness. The Hermitage reserve stocks will now be accessible for all Russians. This depositary boasting new technology is one of the best in the world,” Ms Golodets said at the ceremony.
