Speaking on the Government's behalf, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich stressed that all of the commitments made to host the World Expo-2020 in Yekaterinburg will be implemented thoroughly and in a timely fashion.

He added that Russia's bid to host the event will be earnest and transparent.

Although a young city, Yekaterinburg has all of the necessary facilities to host the participants and the guests, he said.

"I am confident that we will make every effort to ensure that this World Expo is a memorable event," Mr Dvorkovich added.

He also conveyed greetings to the General Assembly from President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, and noted that they both actively support the country's bid to host the World Expo-2020.

The vote to name the host city for the World Expo-2020 will be held in November 2013.
