Prime Minister Vladimir Putin met with Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov

Vladimir Putin

Meeting with Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov

"We have decided to set aside another 21 billion roubles for the Defence Ministry's housing programme. I am proceeding from the premise that this measure will help solve numerous social problems and will also support the national construction sector."

Transcript of the beginning of the meeting:

Vladimir Putin: Mr Serdyukov, we have discussed housing, the most serious social problem now plaguing the Armed Forces, and have recently made considerable progress in solving this acute problem. We have successfully implemented the "15+15" programme. Yesterday, we discussed this with our colleagues from the Economic Development and Finance Ministries and studied the possibility of allocating additional resources.

We have conducted further research and have decided to set aside another 21 billion roubles for the Defence Ministry's housing programme. I am proceeding from the premise that this measure will help solve numerous social problems and will also support the national construction sector. Please examine this issue with your colleagues and keep in mind that unfinished housing can also be purchased. Remember that purchases with high, speculative pricing are absolutely out of the question and must be made at today's value.

A. Serdyukov: Thank you, Mr Putin. We will tackle this issue.
