Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has stressed the importance of using advanced technology during the construction of the Western High Speed Diameter expressway in St Petersburg.

The construction is of major significance for developing St Petersburg's transport infrastructure. It will help resolve traffic problems and become the shortest route open to traffic 24/7 linking the southern, central, and northern parts of the city. The southern section, which provides full access to the sea port of St Petersburg, is already operational.
