Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev visits the New Jerusalem monastery in the Moscow Region

Accompanied by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Mr Medvedev visited the Sunday school at the New Jerusalem Resurrection Monastery in Voskresensk, the gate tower, the underground church of St Konstantin and St Yelena, the cave of the Holy Sepulchre, and other sites. "To put it briefly, the impressions are overwhelming,” the Prime Minister said while talking to journalists after visiting the sites that are currently under restoration.

The Prime Minister couldn’t hold back his admiration about what he had seen. “It’s unbelievable that such a technology was available in the 17th  century,” Mr Medvedev said.

During the tour, he emphasised the need to complete the restoration on schedule.
