Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev meets with his Kazakh counterpart Karim Massimov
13 september 2012
Transcript of the beginning of the meeting:
Dmitry Medvedev: Mr Massimov, please accept my heartfelt greetings. We always have an extensive agenda to discuss and not just because we are old friends and have known each other for a long time, but because relations between Russia and Kazakhstan are diverse, and I’m sure our current meeting will not be an exception. We’ll certainly talk about economic cooperation and our Russia-Kazakhstan-Belarus integration union. We’ll also talk about the international economy, and we will probably touch on major bilateral projects. If you want to discuss any other topics, I’m at your disposal.
Welcome once again. Moscow has welcomed you with good weather – it’s practically summer here.
Karim Massimov: Thank you very much, Mr Medvedev. First, I’d like to send you best regards from Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Dmitry Medvedev: Thank you.
Karim Massimov: Yesterday before I departed I looked again at the issues that I wanted to discuss with you at the level of our governments. The Forum of Border Regions will take place next week at the level of heads of state. Last time it was held in Pavlodar. I think that our current meeting and this visit complement each other and will give us an opportunity to consolidate our bilateral relations.
Dmitry Medvedev: Absolutely. This is the right way to go. Thank you.
