Dmitry Medvedev visits St Petersburg State Institute of Technology (a technological university), where he used to work as a computer operator

The prime minister visited the university's department of system analysis, where Dmitry Medvedev worked from 1985 to 1986 as a computer operator. The department of system analysis, currently called the department of automated management and designing systems, is one of the largest at the university, with 35 lecturers and 28 doctorate students.

"Mendeleev used to work here," the university's president told Mr Medvedev. "I wish someone had told me about that when I worked here, I was not aware of that," the prime minister joked.

The prime minister then went into the information and intellectual systems classroom, which is equipped with modern computers. "Computers used to take up a lot of space, the prime minister remarked. "Could anyone have possibly imagined this thirty years ago?"

After that Dmitry Medvedev visited a flexible automated systems classroom, where he was shown modern equipment used for certain chemical processes. "It's a pleasure to watch this," the prime minister said in praise.

The prime minister finished with a visit to the resource-saving laboratory.
