Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev congratulates film industry workers on Russian Cinema Day

The message reads, in part:

“Cinema holds a special place in modern culture, being one of the most popular art forms. We have millions of cinema fans in this country. We are proud of the names of Sergei Eisenstein, the Vasilyev brothers, Andrei Tarkovsky, Sergei Bondarchyuk and other artists who have done much to set the course in Russian and global cinema. Whole generations were raised on their films. Our film industry needs talented, free-thinking professionals who can make a meaningful statement in their films, continuing the traditions of their great predecessors.

Of course, advanced managerial solutions and the effective use of funds and new technology are essential for the success of the film industry as well.

I’m confident that many new, interesting and thoughtful films await our audience.”
