On Railway Worker’s Day Dmitry Medvedev visited Omsk State University of Railway Transport

The Prime Minister was greeted by the head of Russian Railways, Vladimir Yakunin who was wearing a light gray railway dress uniform. He took Dmitry Medvedev on a tour one of Siberia’s oldest universities.

In one laboratory the Prime Minister was shown a test unit for the high speed Sapsan’s electrical current transfer system. In the same lab the prime minister saw testing equipment for older model railway wheels, an automated machine to simulate “live mounted” wheels.

Also at Omsk State University, the prime minister was shown a replica of the first Russian steam engine “Steam-driven Diligence” by Yefim and Miron Cherepanov, built in 1834.
