Vladislav Surkov learned about the work of the university, visited the artistic and acting faculties and a training studio, and also met with leading figures in Russian cinema, the VGIK masters.

In the course of the meeting the deputy prime minister said that next year five grants would be allocated for VGIK alumni to make full-length feature films and that funding would be sought to upgrade the training studio and introduce new filmmaking technology to the university.
