Dmitry Medvedev’s speech at the ceremony:
Good afternoon, dear friends! I hope you are not too cold. The weather may leave a lot to be desired but the day is a wonderful one! I’d like to congratulate all of you on the start of a new stage in the development of Kazan, Tatarstan and of Russia as a whole. I’m very glad that today we are launching a new large-scale project – Innopolis-Kazan.
You know what the plans are for this place, but for now it’s still hard to imagine what it will be like in practical terms… But I’m confident that in a few years a new city will appear in this open and very beautiful place – a city where 155,000 people will live and work. And most important of all, these are people who are willing to change their lives, their region and their country!
I am confident we’ll succeed and that this will be a very beautiful, very powerful and very interesting innovation centre that will generate ideas and produce talent, and ultimately allow a huge number of people to fulfil their creative potential. And you will be the builders of this Innopolis and the people who will live in it. Right now that's hard to believe with the wind blowing in this open space. But it will be a great place, I’m absolutely sure! We only have to work hard and it will all come together!
Thank you very much for being here today. Let’s get this wonderful undertaking launched. Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on this occasion. Long live Innopolis-Kazan! Hurrah!
