Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin visits facilities under construction at the Vostochny Space Centre in the Amur Region

The deputy prime minister reviewed the construction of the ground infrastructure and from a helicopter surveyed the sites of launching pads and technological facilities.

Then Dmitry Rogozin held a meeting on construction problems, in particular proposals on the timely erection of a new state-of-the-art space centre. According to Mr Rogozin, the Vostochny Space Centre will make it possible for Russia to independently pursue the full range of prospective objectives in space research and exploitation. Mr Rogozin also said that construction of the space centre will open not only an independent Russian path to space but will also give impetus to the development of the Far East, and intensify regional science, technology, production and the socioeconomic sphere.

In addition, Mr Rogozin listened to a report by the leadership of the Federal Space Agency on further restructuring the missile and space industry and instructed the Military-Industrial Commission under the Russian government to assess the proposals contained in the report.
