Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev meets with President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev

Participants:
“We should simply do our best to find compromises,” Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev noted, talking about the issues of bilateral economic cooperation."

Transcript of the beginning of the meeting:

Dmitry Medvedev: We would like to say a few words.

Mr Atambayev, first of all, I am happy to see you once again this year as President of Kyrgyzstan. And this, quite possibly, pre-determines the essence of the issues to be discussed by us. Frankly speaking, there are many issues, and we need to find some solutions. I’m referring to economic issues and bilateral cooperation issues. There is nothing extraordinary here. We should simply do our best to find compromises.

With this approach, I believe that we will be able to make headway on the main areas of cooperation, which we have repeatedly charted. When talking about the overall situation, things are quite good. Bilateral trade turnover continues to increase. Your efforts and the activity of your government are yielding positive results. So I hope that we’ll have a productive discussion on all the socio-economic cooperation issues between Russia and Kyrgyzstan today. And, of course, we will discuss other issues, including regional issues and some other things.

Almazbek Atambayev: I am very happy to meet with you, Mr Medvedev. I am very happy that the President of Russia and the State Duma have chosen you and have supported you. I am particularly happy because you and I have discussed these issues many times, and, most importantly, we have managed to resolve many issues and have found solutions … So, we will of course find it much easier to achieve our goals. To be honest, I am very happy that we can continue to work together. I wish you excellent health, and it is also my wish that you manage to accomplish your goals.

Dmitry Medvedev: Thank you.

Almazbek Atambayev: And, of course, I would like to wish you good luck, as usual. Much depends on good luck.

Dmitry Medvedev: You’re right; everyone can use a bit of good luck. Thank you very much, Mr Atambayev, thank you.
