Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev visits a home for veterans and retirees near Tambov

Participants:

Since 2007, the home has had a specialised department for rehabilitation, health improvement and providing leisure activities for elderly people.

As part of the Older Generation federal targeted programme, modern diagnostic equipment has been purchased for the department. The department includes dietary counselling, physical therapy and therapeutic massage, and has a swimming pool. Individual treatment and rehabilitation programmes are designed for elderly people. Veterans who live in the nursing home can go on excursions, including to theatres, exhibitions and concerts.

Dmitry Medvedev inspected the medical unit of the elderly care department and learned about the lives of its residents. The prime minister was told that almost all those who received rehabilitation treatment in the home once come again.

Residents drew Dmitry Medvedev's attention to the fact that the home can only accommodate several dozens of people at once. "They say there are plans for a new home to be built not far from this one. Please, help the governor accomplish this," a pensioner asked the prime minister. Dmitry Medvedev said that the issue will be considered.
