Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin visits the Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center

Participants:

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin inspected the workshops at the plant where Proton rockets are produced and the Angara rocket module is being developed. He was also shown the first stage of the South Korean KSLV-1 rocket carrier that the centre is building under a Russian-South Korean inter-governmental agreement.

In addition, Mr Rogozin learned about the progress of the programme for the technical re-equipment of the production facilities as well as other directions in the innovative development of the center.

At a meeting with company executives he emphasised that Russia should achieve absolute superiority in space and not limit itself to the role of "space carrier," albeit a very successful one. "Our goal is not to catch up with others but to move ahead and evoke the envy of our influential partners," the deputy prime minister said. He noted that there is already a clear-cut plan in place to develop the Vostochny spaceport, which will allow Russia to become more independent in space exploration.

"There is only one way of overcoming failures – by setting specific goals, purchasing modern equipment, replacing machinery and training people. It's only by using modern machinery that we can produce modern technology," Mr Rogozin said in conclusion.
