Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin chairs a meeting on the development of the Russian micro-electronics industry

Participants:

The participants in the meeting discussed the creation of a modern technical base for the development and manufacture of micro-electronic products in Russia, and ways to achieve technical independence in this area.

The deputy prime minister believes that the strategies underlying the growth of the radio-electronic industry include modernisation of enterprises and their transition to innovative manufacturing practices.

"The government focuses primarily on the development and serial production of the necessary quantity of new-generation electronic components used for the creation of priority armaments," Rogozin said.

These measures, the deputy prime minister believes, will help Russia close the technology gap and reduce its dependence on imports.

Mr Rogozin also said that government investment into the radio-electronic industry grew by over 200% in 2011 as compared with 2010. "Increasing the number of domestic civilian-purpose micro-electronic enterprises is the best way to support the industry," Mr Rogozin said.
