Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin completes working visit to Sverdlovsk Region

Participants:

On the second day of his trip to the region Dmitry Rogozin learned about the manufacturing capacities of the Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant. This plant has been using "white metallurgy" technology for several years now. The deputy prime minister was shown around the main areas of the factory, including the Iron Ozone 32 electric arc furnace complex and the finishing centre for the production and processing of oil pipes.

Afterwards Dmitry Rogozin talked with students at the plant's new education centre, which opened in autumn 2011. Discussions between the deputy prime minister and students focused on the distinctive features of modern technical professions, the creation of "smart" jobs in Russia and the outlook for attracting young specialists to strengthen the country's defence capabilities.

"I really want you to be proud of the education you are receiving at this centre," the deputy prime minister said to the engineers of tomorrow. "The Sverdlovsk Region's experience in vocational education is a good example to imitate."

As well as the Pervouralsk plant the deputy prime minister also visited Nizhny Tagil, where he spent time at the Uralvagonzavod workshop and the Staratel testing area at the Nizhny Tagil Institute of Metal Testing, where he took part in training exercises for the crews of the T-90S and T-90SM tanks. Dmitry Rogozin confirmed the federal government's intention to turn Staratel into the main national centre for the testing of armor, ammunition and shells. He added that Russian tank builders would take on the role of training the crews of Russian tanks for foreign customers. "Soon you won't recognise this place. Hotels, showrooms, and various kinds of training simulators will appear here. This is all part of our plans, we will support this initiative," the deputy prime minister said.
