Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin attends Roscosmos board meeting

Participants:

After congratulating those at the meeting on the 20th anniversary of the Russian Space Agency, Dmitry Rogozin noted that the government’s top priorities include the development of the space industry. “We will continue to monitor the implementation of state objectives in this industry,” the deputy prime minister said.

Rogozin also noted the Agency’s weak ability to organise and coordinate the work of the aerospace industry enterprises to develop rocket and space technology under the State Arms Procurement Programme and federal targeted programmes.

Speaking about automated space control technology, Dmitry Rogozin said it would be difficult to compete, while still using traditional approaches to obtain information and provide services, against those who have been creating and using these kinds of space-based systems for a long time. He suggested seeking unconventional approaches, and methods to develop effective mechanisms for resolving today’s objectives.

“We live in the time of global challenges and threats caused by an increase in the number of environmental disasters and industrial accidents, including those in space,” the deputy prime minister said. “The potential of Russia’s modern space exploration, its information, navigation, and telecommunication technology are capable of providing early warning and prevention systems for such threats both domestically and internationally.”

Officials from the Presidential Executive Office, the government, ministries and departments, the Russian Academy of Sciences, a number of higher education institutions and heads of aerospace industry companies participated in the meeting.
