Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin visits the Kaliningrad Region

Participants:

During the working visit to the Kaliningrad Region the deputy prime minister inspected the Voronezh-DM long-range radar station, which is part of the missile early-warning system. "This is a new radar station, which is now on trial duty and will be put on full alert in two years," the deputy prime minister told journalists before visiting the station.

Dmitry Rogozin noted that the station will track all ballistic missile launches near Russia's western borders.

In the afternoon, Mr Rogozin visited the Baltic Shipyard Yantar, where he took part in the keel-laying ceremony of the Project 11356 Admiral Makarov frigate for the Russian Navy, the third batch-produced ship built to the Defence Ministry's order.

Speaking to the shipyard's workers, Dmitry Rogozin said that "Russia must have a strong Navy and an ocean-going fleet."

Dmitry Rogozin has also held a meeting with the Kaliningrad Region Governor Nikolai Tsukanov to discuss, among other things, the placement of defence orders with the Kaliningrad plants.
