"The possibilities of peaceful uses of nuclear power are practically unlimited, and modern technologies ensure its safety. Taking this into account, Russia has opted for a large-scale programme of building nuclear power plants as one of its energy priorities," Ivanov said.

He also reminded those present that Russia has expressed its intention to build 26 nuclear power plants by 2020.
