First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov chairs a meeting of the Sub-Commission for Customs Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation and Protective Measures in Foreign Trade

Participants:

The participants supported a proposal to extend for two years the 5% rate of import customs duty for condensers used in refrigerator production.

Following a discussion on amending the rates of import customs duty for scrap, ferrous and non-ferrous metal waste and alloy and non-alloy steel bars, it was decided to keep the current rates intact.

Following Kazakhstan's request, sub-commission members agreed to support the duty-free import of certain equipment and components used for helicopter production, if necessary.

Meeting participants agreed the proposal to extend from one year to five the period of temporary import with full conditional duty exemption for items of cultural value, more than 100 years old, imported to the territory of the Customs Union.

After analysing the situation with amber extraction and amber goods production in the Kaliningrad Region, sub-commission members found no grounds for introducing protective export customs duties on amber.

Following the discussion, it was decided to introduce duty relief for items imported for the construction of the nuclear power station in Belarus. The final decision regarding each specific item will be made after further discussion with Belarusian colleagues based on their proposals. The availability of analogous Russian products or equipment will be the main factor taken into account.
