Participants:

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin visited an exhibition entitled From the Agrarian Region to the Centre of Food Security, which was held in the building of the regional administration. During his visit, Putin was briefed on projects in the agricultural sector that are being implemented in the Tambov Region, as well as on the programme of extending gas supply networks to agricultural enterprises in the Tambov Region.

Vladimir Putin was also briefed on programmes of research and personnel training for the agricultural sector of the Tambov Region, which is being implemented on the basis of Michurinsk State Agrarian University. Putin was particularly interested in an agrarian project focusing on backyards called Everything Homegrown. Local backyards supply various agricultural products that consumers can order for home delivery through the internet.

In addition, Putin saw a presentation of the programme for energy saving and energy efficiency in the Tambov Region until 2020. This programme could save 1.5 billion roubles by 2020, funds which the region then intends to spend on developing the agricultural sector.

The exhibition also includes information on a project for the construction of a liquefied natural gas plant in the Tambov Region. Construction of its first stage out of the three planned stages began last year. Total investment in the 1st and the 2nd stages will amount to 16 billion roubles. The enterprise, which is planned to be commissioned by 2016, will produce more than one million tonnes of liquefied natural gas per year. The plant will supply gas to enterprises of the Central Federal District.
