First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov chairs a meeting of Subcommission for Customs Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation and Protective Measures in Foreign Trade

Following a discussion, sub-commission members approved the proposal to exempt from customs duties goods imported under production sharing agreements on the Sakhalin-I, Sakhalin-II, and Kharyaga oil and gas projects in accordance with the approved programmes of works and cost estimates established under the aforementioned agreements.

It was also decided that the import of flight simulators to Russia will be free from customs duty (currently the customs duty on these imports totals 20%).

The possible introduction of export duties on copper wire rods and amendments to import duties on high-strength nylon and polyester fibres will be subject to further discussion.

The sub-commission supported the draft resolution on a simplified procedure for imposing bans and limitations on the import of certain categories of goods needed for the organisation and staging of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The sub-commission’s decisions have been recommended for consideration by the Customs Union’s Commission.

 In conclusion, the sub-commission agreed to retain current export duties on rough timber throughout 2012.
