Prime Minister Vladimir Putin visits the Open Festival of Young Talents, “Nizhny Tagil – City of Youth,” dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Uralvagonzavod plant
9 september 2011
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s address at the festival:
Good afternoon, friends,
You have gathered here to celebrate the 75th anniversary of your enterprise, Uralvagonzavod. There are hundreds, perhaps thousands of people here, but I would like to congratulate each one of you personally, as I would if I could walk into your apartment, your home or your shop.
I would like to congratulate you and wish you all the best. Each member of this audience has a different relationship with the enterprise. This is natural, as some of you may have joined it recently, while others may have worked here all their lives, generation after generation. But we should all take pride in the Uralvagonzavod plant, because during the Great Patriotic War of 1941 – 1945 (I'm sure you are aware of this), every third tank used by the Soviet Army was produced by your enterprise.
Not long ago, quite recently in fact, this enterprise passed through some difficult times. But thanks to your initiative, your hard work and your discipline, and thanks to the outstanding traditions that have been maintained by Uralvagonzavod which are as strong as the armour of your tanks, you handled the situation with dignity and are now actively evolving.
Today, we spoke about the enterprise’s development programme, in which we intend to invest over 64 billion roubles from the federal budget alone in the next few years. I am confident about the future of the enterprise, and I'd like for each of you to have the same confidence as I do.
I congratulate you, and I'd like to say that Uralvagonzavod is still definitely one of Russia’s top industrial enterprises and a very important part of our industry. The Urals remains our key arsenal and the industrial heart of Russia.
Congratulations! I wish you the very best!
