During his visit, First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov met with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov. The two officials discussed the current status and the future of economic cooperation between Russia and Turkmenistan. They agreed it was expedient to further strengthen interregional ties and promote educational and cultural exchanges.

During his talks with Rashid Meredov, deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan, the two officials shared opinions on several projects in the oil and gas sector, transport, education and science. They also discussed issues which are to be considered at the sixth regular session of the Intergovernmental Russian-Turkmen Commission on Economic Cooperation in November 2011 in Moscow.
