While on a working visit to Volgograd, First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov chaired a meeting on priority social issues in the Volgograd Region

Participants in the Volgograd meeting discussed the preparation of schools for the new academic year and progress in the implementation of a comprehensive education modernisation project in the Volgograd Region. Viktor Zubkov focused particular attention on the need for local authorities to complete school repairs and ensure the safety of students by September 1.

Another issue on the meeting's agenda concerned preparations by the housing and utilities sector for the upcoming heating season, including measures to save energy and other resources. The participants focused on the readiness and modernisation of the heating system in Volgograd.

The meeting then turned to current healthcare problems in the region. In particular, Zubkov highlighted the need for the stable provision of medicines, primarily to those who are entitled to social security benefits. He also spoke about healthcare services to the population, especially the availability of modern medical equipment and specialised vehicles in rural areas. They also discussed the construction of new medical facilities.

Zubkov will sign off on a list of instructions based on the meeting's results. He also requested additional information on a number of issues.
