Prime Minister Vladimir Putin visits Vityazi, a new residential complex for army servicemen in Balashikha, near Moscow

After seeing a new residential complex under construction in a military city of the independent operational division of the Ministry of the Interior, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin visited Lt-Col Oleg Shmakov, who recently received an official flat there. Putin presented Shmakov and his wife with a television set, their older son with a computer and their younger son with a video game console.

The Vityazi residential complex has 2,680 official flats for army servicemen. It is being built in three stages. The first stage, which comprises 640 flats, was begun in 2009. Now the second stage, for 969 flats, is being commissioned.

The third stage, for 1,071 flats, is under construction and will be put into service in the fourth quarter of 2013.

The Vityazi residential complex consists of monolithic brick buildings of different heights (12 and 17 stories). It includes flats with one, two, three and four rooms of improved design, that are being commissioned with complete interior decoration.
