First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov holds a regular meeting of the Government Commission on Radio and Television Broadcasting

Participants:

Participants in the meeting discussed the Digital Video Broadcasting-Second Generation Terrestrial (DVB-T2) digital television broadcasting standard.

As the second generation European digital standard, DVB-T2 is designed to enhance the capacity of digital television broadcasting with the same network infrastructure and frequency resources. Its introduction will make it possible to use radio frequency resources more effectively and improve television signal quality.

Considering the advantages of this standard and the general global trend towards its adoption, the commission decided to support the Communications Ministry's proposal on the pilot deployment of ground-based digital television networks in a number of zones for RTRS-operated DVB-T2 broadcasting.
