Transcript of the beginning of the talk between Vladimir Putin and Prince Bandar al-Saud:

Vladimir Putin: Your Highness, colleagues and friends,

I am happy to welcome you here in Moscow.

I am very glad that the relations between our countries are developing successfully. Trade is growing apace, although it is still rather modest in absolute terms. At the same time, considering the very good relations that have been established between our countries, the prospects are good and we have a good basis to build on.

I always remember our visit to Saudi Arabia and the warm welcome accorded to our delegation in your country. At the beginning of our talk I would like to ask you to convey our warmest wishes to the people of your country and to His Majesty, the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques, the King of Saudi Arabia.

I recently had the pleasure of talking with him by telephone. The question we discussed was solved quickly and effectively. Frankly speaking, this is not always the case at such a high level, but it was the case with the King of Saudi Arabia. Please convey my genuine gratitude to him.

Bandar al-Saud: Mr Prime Minister,

I would like to extend sincere thanks to you for the meeting today. I am glad to convey to you the best wishes from the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques, the King of Saudi Arabia. Indeed, we can say that after the visit of the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques to Moscow and after Your Excellency's visit to al-Riyadh, the relations between our countries have become truly strategic.

The Custodian of Two Holy Mosques has asked me to convey his respects to you, his high regard and his hopes for good relations between us. With God's help, I hope that I will be able to convey to you the thoughts and ideas of the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques on the development and expansion of our relations in the political, economic and oil fields, in the military sphere, in the sphere of security and many other spheres.

As a result of the talks between Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and the Secretary-General of the National Security Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Bandar al-Saud, an agreement on military-technical cooperation was signed between Russia and Saudi Arabia.

The agreement was signed by the director of the Federal Military-Technical Cooperation Service, Mikhail Dmitriyev, on the Russian side, and by Prince Bandar al-Saud, on the part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
