All construction projects planned for the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games remain in force, said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, responding to a question on a possible negative impact of the world financial crisis on the preparations for the Sochi Olympics.

"None of the planned sites is being abandoned," Mr Kozak said. At the same time he said that the Government will be reviewing the estimated construction cost of the projects due to the reduction in prices for construction and raw materials. According to Mr Kozak, the Ministry of Transport scrutinized some projects and estimates savings of 10 to 15 percent on them, and possibly even 25 percent on some of the projects.

Mr Kozak said that all projects and activities were being implemented on schedule. There are 17 sites currently under construction, and by spring most of the Olympic facilities will have their designs completed.
