Mr Kozak said that half of the sites planned for the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi should be attractive for investment. "Over 200 different facilities will be constructed, and half of them are attractive for investing," he said.

He said that potential investors may be interested in sports facilities that could remain operational after the Games, as well as trade exhibition centres and infrastructure facilities, especially in the energy sphere.

Mr Kozak said that the Government had adopted special Olympics-related laws that will allow the investors to avoid red tape.

To attract private investments, the Government is planning to extend these "anti-bureaucratic" laws to the rest of the country. "We will draw conclusions from the results in Sochi, and will work on improving the situation in the country as a whole," Mr Kozak said.

In conclusion, Mr Kozak called on US businessmen to consider the opportunities in the Olympic construction and "take part in Russia's national Olympic project." He said that Sochi was already the country's main tourist destination, with over 10 million tourists visiting the city annually. After the Olympics, the City and the Krasnodar Territory will become even more attractive for tourists.
