Prime Minister Vladimir Putin discusses assistance to Domodevovo International Airport victims with Minister of Healthcare and Social Development Tatyana Golikova

Mr Putin issued instructions to draft a government decision on assistance to victims’ families, and instructed Ms Golikova and her deputies to visit hospitals to gain firsthand information about the treatment of people injured in the terrorist attack.

Transcript of the beginning of the meeting:

Vladimir Putin: Ms Golikova, the crime committed at Domodedovo International Airport at 4.30 p.m. today killed and injured many people. Please tell me the latest information about the tragedy and what healthcare services are doing to help the victims.

Tatyana Golikova: Mr Putin, we sent ambulances to the site as soon as the attack was reported. 56 teams departed at once. Understandably, figures are changing every minute. At present, we know that 130 were injured, and information about 29 dead has been confirmed. All kinds of reports are coming in. However, we can say with certainty that there were 29 deaths. We will continue to verify the information. First-aid teams from the city, the Moscow Region and federal hospitals are working on site. 58 victims have been admitted to federal and municipal hospitals in Moscow and the region. 41 patients are in a grave or extremely grave condition.

We are also registering the injured at the airport, including those who applied for first aid but refused to be sent to hospital. All information will be finally confirmed later. Unfortunately, the number of serious and very serious cases usually grows over time following such incidents. We will keep you up to date. All medical institutions – federal and municipal – in Moscow and the region have everything they need: drugs, bandages and equipment.

Vladimir Putin: How many people have been admitted to hospitals in the Moscow Region?

Tatyana Golikova: 19 so far, in the towns of Vidnoye and Domodedovo.

Vladimir Putin: Do you think they should be transferred to federal hospitals?

Tatyana Golikova: The bitter experience of the previous terrorist attack has taught us that it is worthwhile to transfer the patients. We will do it now.

Vladimir Putin: Please do that. We should also draft a government decision on financial aid to the families of those killed. I also ask you and your deputies to visit hospitals and see how the patients are treated.

Tatyana Golikova: All right, I'll go immediately after this meeting.

Vladimir Putin: Thank you.
