The Government Commission on the Fisheries Industry met at the Government House in Moscow today

The Commission summarised the results of the salmon fishing season in the Far Eastern Federal District, praised the efficiency of special commissions headed by Governors of the Far Eastern regions, and issued instructions to develop proposals to further improve regulation in the industry.

The Commission summarised the results of the salmon fishing season in the Far Eastern Federal District, praised the efficiency of special commissions headed by Governors of the Far Eastern regions, and issued instructions to develop proposals to further improve regulation in the industry.

They also considered additional proposals of the Federal Agency for Fishery to improve control of reception, transportation, processing and storage of the fish/seafood caught and end food products.

The participants in the meeting laid a special emphasis on the need for more effective protection of fish and seafood, and to improve state controls in the sphere. An interdepartmental working group especially established to estimate the current status of the issue, presented the results of its work.

The Commission heard the Transport Ministry's presentation on the progress of its work to adjust the boundaries of seaports in line with the existing legislation.

Finally, the participants in the meeting approved the Commission's plan for the first half of 2009.
