Vladimir Putin visits the village of Nekrasovskoye, near Sochi, where people are being rehoused who have been displaced from the Imereti Valley to make way for the 2014 Olympic facilities

Participants:

Oleg Matyukha, holding his grandson Artur, welcomed Prime Minister Putin by the gates to one of the houses in Nekrasovskoye.

He told Putin his grandson was "a future Olympian."

"In which sport?" the Prime Minister asked.

"Skiing," Mr Matyukha replied.

The prime minister looked around the ground floor, seeing the large kitchen, spacious living room and study. Mr Matyukha is a medical professional and owns a diagnostic centre in Sochi.

Then Vladimir Putin climbed the stairs to the first floor and admired the view of the Imereti Valley that opened out before him.

"The view would be better from higher up," he said.
"We have a second floor, and the view is better from there," Mr Matyukha said, leading the prime minister up to the second floor.

After the tour, Vladimir Putin presented Mr Matyukha's family with a plasma TV.

Outside, he talked with those living in other new houses nearby.

"I know you had problems. Have they all been solved?" he asked one of them. "Are you satisfied with the quality of it?"

The new residents assured Vladimir Putin they were satisfied and that they really like their new homes.
"Everything should be in working order now, I think. The water, electricity and heating systems should all run like clockwork," the prime minister said.

Construction work on 112 houses has recently been completed in the village; 102 houses have been handed over to their new owners and the remaining 10 will be commissioned in November. Twenty families have already moved in.
