Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, along with Jean-Claude Killy, chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, and Olympic Games Executive Director Gilbert Felli, visited the headquarters of the State Corporation Olympstroy to look over information displayed about the progress of construction of the Olympic Park and the Mountain Cluster.

Olympstroy President Taimuraz Bolloyev reported that construction of Olympic facilities for the 2014 Olympics is continuing on schedule and that 40% of construction will be completed by the end of 2010.

"Work is going according to plan," said Mr Bolloyev, noting that the difficulties anticipated in plans for several Olympic facilities did not come true. Another 29% of the construction plan will be carried out in 2011, 19% in 2012, and 10% in early 2013, according to Mr Bolloyev.

Prime Minister Putin asked Chairman Killy how he rates progress on the preparations for the Olympics in Sochi, and Mr Killy replied that he is satisfied with the progress. He expressed confidence that the Olympic Games in Russia will be one of the best Olympics in history, remarking that there is still much to be done.

Construction and assembly work is currently underway at 107 future Olympic sites. Sixteen of the 50 facilities to be commissioned by the end of the year have been completed so far. Construction is well underway at nine facilities, five of which are located in the Imereti Lowland. These facilities include the Central Stadium, the Bolshoi and Maly Ice Palaces, the Sochi Olympic Skating Centre and the Olympic Oval.

All infrastructural facilities of the Olympic Park, four of which are in the Mountain Cluster, are also under construction. These include the Biathlon and Ski Complex, the Rosa Khutor Alpine Resort, the Russian National Sliding Centre and the Russian National Ski Jumping Centre.
