First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov chairs a meeting of the Subcommission on Customs Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation and Protective Measures in Foreign Trade of the Government Commission on Economic Development and Integration

Participants:

The participants of the meeting made a decision to recommend that the Commission of the Customs Union introduce a separate category for used logging equipment to the Foreign Economic Activity Commodity Classification. The subcommission will decide on the change in the duty rates for these items after analysing the practical effect of the introduction of the new category and collecting thorough information on the prices of the machines imported under new commodity identification codes.

The subcommission considered and approved a proposal to reduce the import duties on several types of condensers for domestic refrigerators from 15% to 5% and introduce a separate code for these items in the Commodity Classification.

The participants of the meeting supported the initiative of the Podari Zhizn (Give the Gift of Life) charity to exempt several exclusive drugs for cancer treatment from import duties, if imported in the countries of the Customs Union.

They also considered a proposal to change the import duty on granulated cellulose acetate and concluded that the current rate of 5% should be upheld.

The subcommission instructed experts to revise the proposal to introduce an exclusive protection duty on fasteners and postponed discussion of this issue until September.

At the end of the meeting, First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov urged its participants to expedite coordination of import duty rates for unalloyed nickel and copper cathodes, so that this issue can be considered at the next meeting.
