Prime Minister Vladimir Putin issues instructions in relation to the cold weather front in the Northwestern, Central and Volga Federal Districts

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin instructed the Government commission on emergency prevention and relief to promptly organise the necessary clean-up and restore electric power following the cold weather front in the Northwestern Federal District and to ensure the uninterrupted work of healthcare, social and other agencies.

In addition, the prime minister discussed the current situation with the governors of the Leningrad, Pskov, Novgorod and Vologda Regions. Vladimir Putin also heard reports on relief measures from the Minister of Energy Sergei Shmatko, Minister of Communications and Mass Media Igor Shchegolev, Minister of Healthcare and Social Development Tatyana Golikova and Minister of Transport Igor Levitin.

Following Vladimir Putin's instructions, the Government commission on emergency prevention and relief held a meeting at the National Crisis Management Centre under the Ministry of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief, during which the commission decided to set up special operation headquarters in all the regions of the Northwestern Federal District, affected by the cold weather front, and in the Moscow, Vladimir, Ivanovo and Nizhny Novgorod Regions, which may be affected by the weather front according to forecasts.
