Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the Government Executive Office Sergei Sobyanin held a meeting of the government commission on the national census in 2010.

He said: "Census offices had only been fully staffed in 22 regions. We have filled between 51% and 80% of our needs for this task in 41 regions, and between 28% and 50% in 20 other regions."

Sobyanin reported that the census would require about 600,000 census takers. He noted that 99% of municipal limits and 98% of all administrative and territorial boundaries were specified as of June 1.

In his words, addresses have been recorded in 86% of cities and 95% of villages but that much work still lies ahead in this respect in Chechnya, Dagestan, Chukchi Autonomous Area and the Leningrad and Sverdlovsk Regions.
