First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov holds a meeting to discuss progress made implementing presidential directives altering the Federal Law on Technical Regulation

Participants:

First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov instructed those participating in the meeting to submit the amendments to the Federal Law on Technical Regulation facilitating the manufacture of innovative products. To date manufacturers' compliance certificates have not been deemed sufficient proof that innovative products meet safety standards. The proposed amendments will require manufacturers to put a special mark on their innovative products, thus increasing their liability for the quality of such products.

First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov demanded that a distinction be drawn between the subjects covered by the Law on Technical Regulation and those falling under the Law on the Sanitary Welfare of the Population. This would improve legal regulation in related areas and define which technical and sanitary norms can be applied to particular facilities.

First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov also stressed the need for comprehensive consultations with Russian businesspeople in order to develop plans for a federal executive body charged with accrediting businesses.
