Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev presented the new Russian government to the Ukrainian prime minister and expressed his hope that it “will do everything it can to develop neighbourly and strategic relations with Ukraine.”

“We are focused on the comprehensive development of strategic cooperation with Ukraine as our closest neighbour and partner. For a variety of reasons, we simply have no grounds for reviewing our strategic priorities,” the prime minister said during the meeting.

"Cases in which social facilities are at risk of closure as a result of property transfers, are completely unacceptable for us."

“The future budget must reflect our medium- and long-term plans. It must be a modernisation budget. And all social commitments – spending on education, healthcare, and support for maternity, families and childhood – must be implemented unfailingly.”

“We successfully protected farmers against the repercussions of the financial crisis and the drought that occurred two years ago; they managed to avoid a fall in production. It is important now to focus on the problems which manifested themselves during the spring sowing and the early preparation for the autumn sowing.”

Dmitry Medvedev proposed for the world’s leading countries to agree on mutual energy policies and to resume the discussion of Russia’s energy security initiatives in the United Nations.

Prime Minister Medvedev emphasised during the meeting that Russian and Norwegian companies are linked by major projects: “We have common initiatives and share responsibility for the future of our northern region.”

“We will have to increase the throughput capacity of Moscow airports also by streamlining the structure of the airspace and upgrading the technical equipment of traffic control centres.”

The prime minister announced plans to include the Chechen Republic in the North Caucasus mountain tourism cluster.

"This is a clear sign of the special friendship and good-natured relations that have linked all the ethnic groups of this country. They are of enduring significance for the development of our multi-ethnic culture."
