The message reads, in part:
“Please accept my congratulations on the 70th anniversary of establishing the Kurgan Region.
“This event became an important milestone in developing the Trans-Ural area. Industries, which were deployed in the region during the Great Patriotic War as a result of the selfless work of local residents, ensured the uninterrupted supply of ammunition to the front. A unique page of regional history is linked with the reclamation of virgin lands, which helped to quickly expand agricultural production.
“You have every right to feel proud of your fellow Kurgan Region residents that include prominent athletes, scientists and artists. And the name of famous orthopedic surgeon Gavriil Ilizarov is known both in Russia and abroad.
Today, the region has a new set of objectives. You should work to attract investment, develop the infrastructure, and focus on social needs to improve the standard of living.”
