The message reads, in part:
“Established during the Great Patriotic War, your university, without exaggeration, provided the staff for our famous nuclear project. More than 90 academicians and Soviet and Russian associate members were involved in the development of the university. Nobel Prize laureates Igor Tamm, Pavel Cherenkov, Ilya Frank, Nikolai Basov, and other outstanding scientists worked there.
“Today the university holds a firm leading position among Russian technical universities. It is developing dynamically, and it prepares qualified specialists for high-tech branches of the Russian economy. It is actively involved in international projects.
“Importantly, the university focuses special attention on the integration of education, science and industry. After the university was granted the status of National Research Nuclear University in 2009, new opportunities emerged for conducting applied research, including on the basis of MIFI’s techno park and small innovation enterprises.“
