"I think the Agrarian Party and United Russia are likeminded organisations, because even when the Agrarian Party was in opposition it still worked constructively with the authorities".

The direction of the main investment projects were discussed at the meeting

"We have successfully used an innovative project-based approach to handling the most pressing issues in education, healthcare, housing construction and development of agriculture. Thanks to the concentration of resources and combined efforts of federal and local government bodies, we brought real change to these areas despite the modest investment in comparison with the financing of each of the sectors as a whole."

The Deputy Prime Minister said that oil companies “submitted an initiative to the Energy Ministry on obligatory fixed-price supplies of requisite amounts of petrochemicals to power generating companies during the autumn and winter season between September 20 and March 1”.

"Now we are facing new tasks. It is necessary to develop children's healthcare and pre-school education. The birth rate has gone up, and we do not have enough kindergartens. We should introduce new, higher standards for the production of food, and consider methods for protecting the younger generation from smoking, alcoholism, and drug addiction."

Mr Sobyanin said that the Government would need to make serious efforts to implement the concept of long-term development through 2020 and the main directions for Government policy through 2012.

Mr Ivanov said that a centre was needed to coordinate operations in the area of high biomedical technologies.
