Apart from economic issues, the two officials spoke about the regional programmes to modernise healthcare, in particular the construction of a cardiology centre and plans to build a cancer hospital. Vladimir Putin promised to help accelerate the construction of the hospital.

The governor said his region had been posting good growth figures recently, both in industry and agriculture. He noted that substantial progress has been achieved in implementing the healthcare modernisation programme, and added that teacher pay has also increased in the region above the all-sector average.
“The government has drafted major amendments to legislation. In fact, for the first time ever, we are introducing a clear legal definition of such a concept as urban amenities and accountability of municipal authorities for the quality of work.”
