The new governor of the Saratov Region told Vladimir Putin about his view of the region’s development and its key priorities. For his part, the prime minister said: “Conditions must be ensured for attracting investment and creating new production and new jobs as the basis for improving living standards and increasing incomes.”
“Budget allocations for museum activities will almost quadruple within the next six years. I would like to call your attention to this fact: they will quadruple to exceed 67 billion roubles.”
“We are introducing a rule under which all government and municipal agencies will have to purchase automobiles produced exclusively within the Common Economic Space (Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan) with money provided from the budgets at all levels.”
The issues discussed included the results of socioeconomic development in the region in the first quarter of the year: salaries and teacher’s salaries, in particular, and healthcare modernisation. The governor reported that there had been a rise in industrial production in the region, primarily in the engineering sector and agriculture. One focus of discussion was on investment in the construction sector.
“We must make every effort to ensure the sustainable development of the national automotive industry. It should meet the demand of the domestic market and enhance its export potential, create new jobs and orders for related industries, and certainly, maintain its competitiveness.”
“Last year, our automotive industry regained and went on to exceed pre-crisis sales levels. Russia holds a steady second place in Europe and fourth place internationally in car sales.”
